You Win!

you win mr g!
hoped to do the 50km at glasshouse today but was a looooong way from even starting.
pulled up sore from doing just a 24km loop last week.
cant put full weight on the right foot well not for 2+ hours anyway.
as a result the left itb started to niggle: i kid you not!
had thoughts of foot injections etc... etc... but just best to bide my time.
a bit uncertain about whats going to happen but have another week off.
then will do some 7km flat runs and see what happens.
hopefully everything will settle down.
no way i will do coot-tha all trails in 2 weeks.
need to build up again.

Sucking it up

it can be a fine line with injuries sometimes.
decided when my foot bruise turned yellow last week that i would run on it.
wasnt comfortable at all but a week later could quite comfortably run with the pain.
always wonder how this changes biomechanics and no doubt is why the left side of my back was sore earlier in the week :)
keeping up some fitness despite the problems and will head out tomorrow for a 20km+ run.

mellum on tour continues. whippet returns from colorado/hardrock this week after becoming the only aussie to do the course in both directions.
spud left yesterday for an irish sojourn before tackling mt blanc!

alaska is recoveing well, scar all but healed. no sign of infection.
a much happier dog :)

thursday: 1hr stat bike
friday: same
saturday: rest
sunday: 1.5hr mt coot-tha run
monday-tuesday-wednesday rest and massage
thursday: easy 30min bike

Poor puppy

a difficult week.
more detail here: http://www.coolrunning.com.au/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=24054&view=findpost&p=475387
but basically alaska (my 5yo siberian husky) was attacked by another dog on sunday.
she was on lead and the dog (very large/50kg or so) ran out from its yard (normally behind an 8ft high fence but the driveway gate was left open).
it went straight for her throat/upper chest had her pinned to the ground and shook her violently.
i thought alaska was going to be killed.
this wasnt a brief puppy park scuffle it was a prolonged vicious attack.
short version is i did everything i could to try and get this dog off: mainly kicking it several times in the chest/stomach and shouting the word 'fuck' a lot.
not sure if it had any positive effect - didnt even flinch the first time.

stupid owner could not only get her dog off but after they had separated didnt hold his dog back so it attacked twice again.
3 wounds to her neck/upper chest with the soft tissue all loosened/torn between the lower 2 requiring a 15-20cm incision and washout.
still a bit worried about her getting infection but seeems to be ok at the moment.
things are progressing with the council and looks like the other dog will be declared dangerous.
have quite a bruised swollen foot: cant remember how many times i kicked this thing but i didnt hold back but can walk almost normally now so will probably need only 1-1.5 weeks off.
poor puppy.
