Happy Festivus

...its from seinfeld.

the bum was better with the local anaesthetic but 2nd cortisone did nothing.
sports med guy quite convinced its ischial bursitis.
3 weeks off running similarly did nothing so started back last week.
may as well have a little bit more pain but be happy because i am running.
seeing a hip surgeon in early feb but very mindful that i am unlikely to want anything done.
no doubt will just suck it up for a few more months before getting frustrated again then repeat the cycle over again.
hopefully not too many more times!

knee bursitis has been fine touch wood.
the upper tibial pain (also touch wood) seems to be non stress-injury as it flared up a few days ago but settled quickly with a popliteus loosen and mobic.
but i have said that before ;)
will keep an eye on it.

ran a JRR at coot-tha in 1.40 or so and a few 10km flats over the last week.
then fats fatass today.
a little longer than i remembered at 24.1km
A&D was 850/500.
the year i was first up the top (thanks to greg and hube stopping short mind you) i got to the far cafe (+500m) in 2.32 (2007).
this year was a 2.40 on the slightly shorter course.
i did push harder than had planned to (hard to resist chasing deb, warren, mandy and chris when u see them up ahead - even if they are doing the return trip as well).
but my 2007 effort was a gritting teeth effort in a 'pre-bogong form' year so a 2.40 at this stage is pretty pleasing.
seemed to be speeding up along the way and teh gps thingy said so also.
main thing of course is that i pull up ok.

giving serious thought to the trip down to mt beauty/tawonga south in 12 days for B2L (rather than B2H) L being lanfords gap of course.

oh yeah and turning 40 in a few days.
fuck.

The Saga continues...

got sick of the continual bum pain and decided to see a sports med person.
its been over 6 months now!!
got an MRI beforehand to look for hammy tendinopathy, but (of course!) it suggested a stress injury +- fracture to the lesser trochanter (hip) as well as a few other bits and pieces.
the ischial bursa looked normal.
in view of this got a bone scan which showed a few bits glowing including the left hip but no worse than the right and i have never had groin pain.

long story short the sports med and original radiologist think the MRI is ok and think the pain is still from the ischial bursa and had an USS guided local anaesthetic injection in there today.
if this works (seems to as i type) i will have another cortisone.
if not he wants me to have an SI joint injection +- MRI of my back.
havent run for the last 5 days, no rush i guess.
DNSed razorback, havent pulled out of B2H yet.

over the last 2 weeks incidentally i broke my jen_runs run (13.7km mt coot-tha) pb by 4mins without really trying to: 89.10
so between the bum and left prepatellar bursa i am feeling a bit broken at the moment but still putting in good times and feeling good when/while i run.
if only i could sit!...
