Lawn Bowls
mellum has convinced me to take up lawn bowls.
unfortunately my itb may not like that much at the moment either.
the itb is completely rogered.
can run about 2km before it hurts (so wont!) and isnt passing the monday night bin test (steep driveway).
will be out for months and take a while to build up again from there.
while i regret the outcome i dont regret the decision ;)
had a chance (albeit small) at a piece of history.
sometimes youve just gotta live on your feet (and die by the knees?).

Bugger! Hope you're back running again soon.
I second Blair's 'bugger' :-(
Months ... it seems crazy that ITBFS can put you out for longer than a stress fracture.
How are you going to keep fit in that time??? Swim? Cycle? Oh, that's right, lawn bowls.
BTW I have the same bin test (Mondays, steep driveway) except I usually take out everybody's from my joint - all six of them, eight on recycling days.
Shit man you weren't kidding when you said months were you?
Didn't realise you were that fked?
Well if anyone knows how to handle ITBS, then it's you, hopefully you'll be back before you know it.
Mellum needs our mountain man.
bummer.
You'll be back - nothing surer.
Nice attempt at Alpine - gutsy to even start man.
Don't take up lawn bowls. You'll end up with RSI in your wrist ;-P
So sorry to hear about your injury Bro but I'm not surprised to hear that it was worth it :-)
I'm sure you are just doing this for the sympathy vote. :P You've been through this before. Just figure out what works and what doesn't. If not there is always the spoon.
Dude I had the same thing happen to me last year when I was preparing for GNW 100. Ended up running 2k, walking 50 then calling it quits. On my return my physio had me do a bunch of strengthening work, deep tissue massage (did you hear me screaming from your house?), then two months off running. I ended up taking three months off and then slowly working back into it. I am still doing the strength work and I'm back up to running some real k's again.
Rest and strengthen mate!
